Pharmacist Support launches new wellbeing podcast: A Dose of Wellbeing
)
“Our aim with A Dose of Wellbeing is to create a space where pharmacy professionals feel supported and empowered,” said Melissa Cochrane, Wellbeing Development Senior Manager at Pharmacist Support. “We were incredibly encouraged by the response to our pilot episodes during ACTNow and are excited to develop this into a long-term resource, providing practical advice and inspiring stories that can truly make a difference.”
A Look Back: The ACTNow Pilot Episodes
The podcast was first piloted as part of the charity’s ACTNow wellbeing campaign, where two episodes were released focusing on workplace wellbeing. The first featured Uzo Ibechukwu, Director of Pharmacy at Royal United Hospital Bath and Integrated Care System Chief Pharmacist at Bath and North East Somerset Integrated Care Board, discussing the importance of wellbeing in the workplace. The second episode explored the link between nutrition and mental wellbeing, highlighting the impact of diet on overall health.
What’s Next for A Dose of Wellbeing?
Following the success of the pilot, Pharmacist Support has committed to making A Dose of Wellbeing a long-term initiative, releasing new episodes twice a month. Moving forward, the podcast will alternate between external guest interviews and internal discussions drawing on the expertise and experiences of the charity’s own team.
The first two episodes of 2025 focus on the theme of Living Your Values. In episode one, the team delves into how to identify your core values, use them to shape your life, and move towards your ideal future. Episode two features Lisa Simpson, the only responsible pharmacist on the Isle of Islay in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. After realising that her role as a superintendent pharmacist in North East England no longer aligned with the life she wanted, Lisa made the bold decision to become a pharmacy owner and relocate to the remote and picturesque Isle of Islay. Her journey is a powerful reminder that prioritising wellbeing can lead to transformative life changes.
“We’re thrilled to kick off the podcast with Lisa’s inspiring story,” added Cochrane. “Her journey is a fantastic example of how taking control of your wellbeing can lead to positive life changes. Future episodes will dive into the powerful role of nutrition in pharmacy, exploring how food choices impact both mental and physical health. We’ll also share the Pharmacist Support team’s eye-opening experience of trying to cut ultra-processed foods from their diets for a month—unpacking the unexpected challenges, surprising benefits, and lasting changes it inspired. Listeners can expect engaging discussions, expert insights, and plenty of practical takeaways to support their own wellbeing.”
