According to GPhC there are more female registrant into the pharmacy profession
than male. However, there are more male in leadership of the profession than
female. Women are taking strides in the profession to be the best that they can be
leading in various aspect of their career.
I believe that more still need to be done to get the female pharmacists on top of their career ladder. Women have to cope with challenges such as maternity leave and taking time off to care for children or loved ones. This may result in career break making them less favourably positioned for promotions.
We need more women speakers and advocates in pharmacy and more in the boardrooms. Women need to be proactive and seize opportunities that come their way. We need to accept leadership opportunities that come our way and develop ourselves and other people through coaching and mentoring.
