Arlene has worked as a pharmacist in community, hospital and academia. Her career focused mainly on postgraduate education as Assistant Director of NHS Education for Scotland (Pharmacy), where she also served for 20 years. Arlene also worked for the Third Sector, setting up and leading an award-winning Patient Support Programme for Antibiotic Research UK for 4 years. She was made a Fellow of the RPS in 2020. Arlene also volunteers as a Trustee of Lyme Resource Centre, a charity aiming to improve awareness and treatment of Lyme Disease.
