Dr Leyla Hannbeck

Dr Leyla Hannbeck is the CEO of Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp). She works with the Board of Directors to set the vision and strategy for the organization to achieve the best outcome for members and influence the direction of travel for the sector and the overall profession. Leyla is passionate about pharmacy and patient care and does a lot of advocacy work to promote the role of pharmacists to the wider public, politicians and decision makers, including the Prime Minister. Prior to joining AIM Leyla worked for The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) as Director of Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacist and was a member of the senior management team. She represented the NPA and its members to national and international stakeholders and was referred to as ‘the face of the organization’ by its members. Her remit also included the Medicines Safety Officer (MSO) role for all independent pharmacies with less than 50 branches promoting patient safety.
Leyla holds a degree in Pharmacy and post graduate degrees in pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacology and toxicology and a Doctorate in business administration. Her career started in Sweden, where she conducted her studies in pharmacy and worked as a clinical pharmacist advisor before moving to the UK in 2004 and working her way up from pharmacist branch manager to senior management positions within the multiple and independent community pharmacy sector. She is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Great Britain.
