Community Pharmacy Clinical Lead,
Derbyshire ICB
Shazia is currently a community pharmacy integration lead for Derbyshire ICB. This role is largely to drive community pharmacy integration into the ICB and bring the sector into the forefront of discussions as part of primary care delivery. Ensuring community pharmacy is viewed as a critical partner to address local population health management and CORE20PLUS 5 priorities. Community pharmacy landscape is changing and her recent work is to lead the implementation locally of national priorities for pharmacy integration. Key big current projects are Pharmacy First and community pharmacy independent prescriber pathfinder. Shazia has worked across various sectors including secondary care, primary care roles, before her clinical fellowship she worked for a Clinical commissioning group where she was the lead pharmacist for the COVID vaccination programme. Other significant roles and achievements during this time include interim Head of Prescribing, PGD lead and Antimicrobial lead. She is passionate about improving patient outcomes and driving change and her collaboration on antimicrobial prescribing won 2 national awards. She holds a MSc in Clinical pharmacy.
Shazia is passionate about driving initiatives to improve patient outcomes and works with tireless enthusiasm with work in recent projects including antimicrobial prescribing, reducing inappropriate opioid prescribing, work with stakeholders to hold event in polypharmacy and with other teams around medicines safety.
Shazia is currently based with CQC for the CPhO clinical fellowship and is working on a number of projects including Urgent emergency care review, ICS assurance development, collaboration with the CPhO clinical fellow on primary care antimicrobial toolkits. The time at CQC has provided many opportunities to understand developing national policy.
